Yankee Boy Basin
July 6, 2003
Sunday of our 4th of July holiday, we went Jeepin'
with Doug & Julie Barger up to Yankee Boy Basin.
We ran into a few rain drops early on, but it cleared to beautiful Colorado blue skies by the time we reached the basin.

Just out of Ouray, it is a trip of spectacular beauty and shorter duration than many others further from home.

Early into the trip you reach this rock overhang on the narrow shelf road.

We tried our best to obey all signs. Steve did very well obeying this one!

At the town site of Sneffels we found this mine building to explore and pine trees with purple pinecones! We had never seen those before!

That's Mt. Sneffels in the background.
14,150 Ft

We parked Wayne at 11,400' and hiked up a ways to check out the incredible views and wildflowers.

Lunch time!

We enjoyed a picnic beside these dual waterfalls.

Heading down we had to wait for the traffic to clear before we could drive back over the shelf road.
