Barb & Steve's Trip to Texas
|

It was great to get to the coast. The weather was cooler and the Gulf water was soothingly warm! We stayed in a hotel right on Corpus Christi beach - a 5 minute walk to the USS Lexington and 10 minute walk to the Texas State Aquarium. Both of which we enjoyed!

We found these sea shells while meandering on the beach from our hotel. The large ones are Lightning Whelks - Texas' state seashell.

We spent the first day touring the USS Lexington. It was fascinating seeing an actual aircraft carrier. It has several different vintage aircraft on the flight deck.
That Japanese flag on the tower marks the spot where a Kamikaze pilot dove his plane into the ship during WWII.

The next day we drove over to north Padre Island and swam in the Gulf at Mustang Island State Park.
It was great to soak our Colorado bodies in the ocean again!

Luckily we saw no sharks, but we did have to watch out for other predators!

|

|
We rode the Port Aransas ferry. As we crossed, we watched dolphins swimming in the water ahead of us!

After we got home from the our day at the beach, we washed up and went out to dinner for seafood and Texas BBQ. We found Catfish Charlie's. Afterward we walked along the bay front downtown, fed seagulls and watched the sunset.

Our last day in CC, we walked over to the Texas State Aquarium.

Afterward we drove back to the bay front and bought fresh Gulf shrimp right off the boat to take back to Kendra's house to cook on the BBQ wrapped in bacon! YUM!
