Texas Kids

Late February, while Barb was in Paris, Steve went to Houston to visit Kendra, Soraya & Apollo.

Grandpa LOVES BBQ joints and he found one - Nonmacher's.
Here's Grandpa and Soraya heading out on their BBQ date and Apollo munching BBQ sausage.

Soraya helps Apollo
with his breakfast.

Along with some 20,000 people
they all participated in the
ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run -
which kicks off the Houston
Rodeo & Livestock Show.

Soraya caught on quickly to
the live on-air interviews
and run up to every announcer
she saw.

Grandpa Steve had great fun teaching Soraya to fish.
He took down one of his short ice fishing rods -
perfect size for a 3 1/2 year old little girl!

Before you knew it,
a crowd of adoring fans
had gathered around
Grandpa chick-magnet!

The next month, Barb & Steve headed to Texas together.
The first morning we arrived, Soraya asked Grandma Barb to paint her fingernails pink, then Soraya put on her white eyelet dress and we all headed to the park.

The gang wanted to take Grandma Barb fishing and show her what they had learned.

As fast as Grandpa could bait her hook with a chunk of hotdog and cast it out, Soraya had a nibble! She reeled in fish after fish!

Then mommy said it was time to head home for lunch, but Soraya and Grandpa begged for just 5 more minutes of fishing.

Soraya got another bite and we could see from the fight it wasn't just another little pan fish. We thought she had a turtle. Grandma helped her pull it in. Boy, were we surprised to to see a monster large mouth bass on Soraya's line!

After we got back to Kendra's house,
Apollo helped Grandma Barb build
this webpage.

Monday mommy went to work and
Grandma & Grandpa got to babysit.
So, back to the park we went for
a little picnic and more fishing!

First Grandpa got a bite, then he caught one...

... then Soraya got a bite and they each had one!

Tuesday we got to see the kids' school. Soraya had ballet class this morning.

While everyone else was at work and school, Grandma & Grandpa got to go shopping. At Toys-R-Us we found "Big Crabbie" sandbox. Tommorrow we'll get the sand, but the kids decided to play in it as a pool tonight!

The next day Grandpa bought
sand and put it in Big Crabbie.
It's more fun now - drier too!

Soraya and Grandma made pizza for dinner one night.

With Kendra and the kids gone Grandma & Grandpa had plenty of
time for projects. While Grandpa busied himself fixing things,
Grandma sewed a couple valance curtains. Kendra wanted one in
the kids' playroom & hadn't had time yet to finish the one in
Soraya's bedroom. We found a cute plaid for the playroom, along
with yellow tassle braid and white dingle-berries for Soraya's room.

Steve wanted to show Barb
his BBQ find in Katy
before heading back home.
