Ice Fishing at Taylor Reservoir

Mike and Leslie Laird took us to Taylor Reservoir, 27 miles north of hiway 50
(turn north at the light in Gunnison).

The reservoir is in a beautiful setting, with the Collegiate Range towering in the north.
Looking back toward Gunnison and the dam, you can see the road running on the left side of photo below.
Our trucks are parked up there.

Below Steve and Sean demonstrate the fine art of augering.
Whoa, Steve, how deep are you going?!
Mike is an avid Lake Trout fisherman and tried to teach the gang how to catch Lakers. Seems though he pulled more out the ice that day than anyone else did (ok, maybe more than all the others combined)!
That doesn't mean the rest of gang didn't get their own share of action though with Lakers and Rainbows.....
Lucy had problems with her paws turning into snowballs!

It wasn't just ice-fishing fun we had. Click below for more shots.
