Steve's 60th Birthday US Army Retirement & Family Parties |
Steve received his orders to retire from the US Army following 22 1/2 years in the Army National Guard and 15 years in the Reserves. He retires as a Major with 37 1/2 combined years of service. Fort Carson, in Colorado Springs, was the closest Army base for Steve's retirement briefing and "out processing" so off we went... |
We stayed on base in the Distinguished Visitor lodging in an officer's suite!

0800 was our briefing at the Welcome & Farewell Center.
That night we celebrated Steve's retirement and having our new "retired" ID cards which mean not only medical coverage but the use of military facilities.
Then we headed up to Littleton to celebrate the June birthdays and Father's Day with Barb's family at Sean & Laurie's house. We spent the night with the Morans and Friday morning Sean drove us to DIA to catch our flight to Chicago for more partying!

June 15, 2007 was Mary Jane & Don's 62nd wedding anniversary! The Kankakee gang gathered at Cindy & Vern's house. Thank you to the Sloans for all their work preparing for the celebrations party.
We also celebrated Father's Day with all the fathers at the party.

Steve received 40-some cards from friends and family!

What a wonderful whirl-wind trip!
We had a great time and got to be with lots of loved-ones!
