Sublette Ranch
Extending the Loft

More changes at the Ranch! This time, it's inside the house...
We decided to extend the loft, adding a 12' x 31' area and allowing us to get to the big windows. The new loft will become our family room (sun room) upstairs. It also makes a great place to study the San Juan mountains from and view wildlife!

We hired neighbor, Mike Laird, as our contractor again. After taking down the railing and building the framework, he laid the sub-flooring.

Lucy loves looking out the big windows! She watches for friends to come over and searches for "critters"!

Mike pivoted the railing to the east and ran all the new cabling/wiring. Now, it's just awaiting carpeting. Also, we are sewing curtains and making our own curtain rods for the large windows. Here are rings for the new rods we were staining.
Go downstairs to see the new ceiling!

Below, Steve stands in the dining room area. We decided to finish the new ceiling with tongue-and-groove aspen wood and installed a ceiling fan/light fixture we had in Littleton. {Domino is checking out the carpet sample}

We made curtains and curtain rods for the large windows to block solar heat!
Don and Sharon Dodds helped us install the rods after they were stained, and hang the curtains after Barb finished sewing.

We LOVE the finished loft! It's the room we spend most of our time in.
