For Barb's birthday we went adventuring over the Uncompahgre Plateau. We drove west out of Montrose following hiway 90 which becomes a gravel road through BLM land, then through the National Forest. Over the top, you drop into the San Miguel River valley and into the towns of Naturita and Nucla.

As we drove we spotted great rocks for landscaping around the under-construction garden pond!

|
|
|
|
We had a picnic lunch at the "Naturita Town Park" beside the river. Lucy enjoyed a swim.
|
|
|
|
It was a great bday! Steve gave Barb a "cowgirl" hat and blouse, and a ton of gorgeous rocks!
|
|
|
We finished off our day with a nice steak dinner at the Backwoods Inn in Montrose
- topped off with Fried Oreos for dessert!
Whew! What'll we do for Steve's birthday?!
