We call these our "Surprise" chickens because the store had them listed simply as "Assorted Egg Layers". So, we didn't have a clue which breed they would be or what they'd look like as adults, just that they should be good egg producers.

Now at almost 8 weeks of age, we found out that one of our "Surprise" chickens is a leghorn.
We call her "Foghorn". Leghorns are prolific egg layers and lay white eggs.

We emailed McMurray Hatchery in Iowa to ask what breed this one is.
We call her "Dolly" because of her large chest and big-hair head!
They told us Dolly is an Aracauna. These are sometimes called "Easter Egg" chickens because they often lay light blue or green eggs.
